Wine exporters from across the region have raised a toast to the Chinese free trade deal which they hope will grow the Australian brand in the major market. Shaw Vineyard Estate owner Graeme Shaw, of Murrumbateman, said the greatest benefit of the progressive elimination of trade tariffs would likely be promotional opportunities. The free trade agreement, signed by Prime Minister Tony Abbott on Wednesday, was expected to remove the 14 per cent tariff on Australian bottled wine, and 20 per cent slug on bulk wine, across four years once in effect.read more
The 2015 ACT Chief Minister’s Export Awards were officially opened by Chief Minister Andrew Barr on Thursday 18 June at Canberra International Airport. Canberra Business Chamber chair Mr Glenn Keys got proceedings underway, welcoming the sponsors and guests. Glenn was followed by Canberra Airport’s Noel McCann who spoke about how the Canberra Airport is proud to be involved in this year’s awards, their positive effect and the airport’s upcoming developments.

The Lerida Estate 2013 Shiraz Viognier has been awarded a trophy at the 2015 International Wine Challenge (IWC) in London. The trophy follows the Gold medal that the wine was awarded last week at the same show. The wine is now a contender for the Champion Trophy which will be presented at the lavish IWC Awards Dinner in London on Thursday 16 July 2015. The trophy winning wine has been described by the judges as a ‘benchmark wine’.
The IWC is accepted as the world’s finest and most meticulously judged wine competition. Every wine is assessed blind and judged for its faithfulness to style, region and vintage. Throughout the rigorous judging process, each medal-winning wine is tasted on three separate occasions by at least 10 different judges.read more
